In response to news media requests, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued the following statement regarding the upcoming Broadway musical entitled The Book of Mormon:

The production may attempt to entertain audiences for an evening, but the Book of Mormon as a volume of scripture will change people's lives forever by bringing them closer to Christ.

To better understand the context of how the Church responds to situations like this, journalists and others may also want to read a popular article on Newsroom posted in March 2009 called “The Publicity Dilemma.”

i am a non conventional Mormon. seriously, i am. i LOVE LOVE LOVE my faith, but i am also very much me. and i can look at my religion from anothers point of view as...well, odd, weird, unusual, and different.
i have always been fascinated by the way others percieve us. as NON christians, when personally, i DONT see how they can come to THAT conclusion, when my entire belief system has been based on the SAME Jesus as every one elses, and the MAIN subject matter ever discussed IN the church happens to be Christ.
sure, i know who Joseph SMith is, and the role he played in the church, but can i tell you details? nope. and i am raised LDS!
im not even sure how many wives he had. seriously. that kind of stuff isnt really any matter to me, i cant chage what happened, or how it happened, or even WHY it happened, but i can, in some way TRY to be a good representative of my religion, by showing that what i am taught, which for the most part is to be: CHRIST-LIKE...is what i am taught.

so, im on the fence with this play. id really like to see it, just too see what jabbs are made about my faith, and how far off left field they go with what thy think they know..but i also know that shows i condone anything that misrepresents us as a faith.

theres no way, id be able to see this on broadway anyway, i dont have the means to get there, not the cash flow to provide me a way to view it, besides theres allot more id want to do in NY if i could make it there (id make it anywhere..lol)
perhaps ill wait for the DVD.  :)
